The 'collation of student options' tool is designed to be an independent piece of software that can easily be transported to any computer running Microsoft Excel. The tool allows a school to set up their own subjects and student groupings in preparations for planning their subject options. This is typically for the options process as students move into Year 10 or Year 12, although many schools are finding that "options" are appearing in other year groups as well. Many schools put a lot of emphasis on 'Student options' as it can help with student motivation and student retention. This is particularly true for schools in a very competitive market and whether a student gets their selections depends on whether they attend your school!

Non-software specific

The tool is designed to be used independently of any MIS (Management Information System) and collates the student preferences and helps you to influence curriculum designs as you can see subject demands, and will render clash tables. This information is invaluable as it will influence financial viability of certain groups or student choices.

Comprehensive clash-checking

If your school operates the International Baccaulerate (IB) and operate in essence a 'free choice' then the tool will be invaluable as it will show exactly the number of students who have selected a certain combination of subjects. It will also show you all the subject combinations that are 'blocked' from being timetabled (scheduled) at the same time due to a single student! This is absolutely invaluable should you use a software solution to 'clash check' on students. Some schools don't clash check on the 'student' and rely on the blocking of subjects to cater for student selections, in this scenario the tool will allow you to 'spot' good subject combinations in advance of your chosen software solution.

Data output

The tool allows you to email students and/or contacts details about the subjects that they have chosen. After analysis of the subject selections you can even create an export file to import in Facility, Options or another software application.
