Techniques for planning KS4+KS5 - NEW
Course overview
Getting more out of Facility Scheduler!
Over the last couple of timetabling seasons, timetablers have been facing more and more challenges. Such challenges as option blocks in more year groups i.e three year key stages. Introduction of more Diploma lines and the introduction of 'primary' models. All these can have a big impact on the school timetable and many timetablers are having to be creative in their curriculums and need the software to follow suite!
The morning will be spent looking at KS4 and KS5 structures and demonstrate how limited links can be used to get various permutations of lesson patterns when using combinations of single and double lessons and allowing options blocks to have more periods then students have of lessons. Within Facility Scheduler you will explore 'links' in detail to ensure a true understanding of them.
The afternoon session will be spent looking at planning matrices and how to modify them, allowing different views of your timetable to be displayed. So if you want to explore the power of Facility Scheduler then this is the course for you.
Outline
The training day is divided into two with the morning examining different Key Stage 4 and 5 curriculums and how they can effectively be entered in Facility Scheduler to gain the maximum power from the software.
The afternoon session looks at how to configure certain parts of Facility Scheduler, namely 'Planning matrices'. By modifying existing matrices you as a timetabler can benefit from seeing timetable data in different formats and adding certain information that may not be in Serco Learning's default matrices.
Audience
The training course is designed for users of Facility Scheduler and timetablers who need to explore the power of Facility Scheduler to cope with ever more different curriculums.
Prerequisite
Due to the nature of the training course it isn't an introduction to Facility Scheduler so it is recommended that delegates have a good understanding of Scheduler and of curriculum plans. Or at least a good understaning of the schools curriculum and needs.
Notes
The day is a training day, and we ask delegates to bring a laptop with Facility Scheduler installed so that training data can be used on the day and taken back to school to use as 'play' data.
